Engineering
Upon leaving school I was fortunate enough to be selected out of five hundred applicants for a place on a five year Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship programme that consisted of the first year being spent in the company’s Apprentice Training Centre learning off the job training in all aspects of manufacturing and tool making, followed by a further four years rotating around each of the company’s departments (turning, milling, grinding, assembly, fitting, tooling, inspection and CNC etc.) covering on the job training manufacturing precision parts for the company’s products.
Throughout this five year apprenticeship I attended day release to a local college where I gained the underpinning knowledge structured to compliment the practical skills that I was learning in company. My final year was focused on CNC specialisation where I became a competent and qualified level 3 Precision Engineer and was even awarded Top Overall Apprentice at the end of my apprenticeship.
